At Samarkand State Architecture and Construction University, a dedicated sustainability team operates under the leadership of the university rector. This team consists of researchers, professors, and talented students, and conducts research in areas such as environmental protection, efficient use of water and energy resources, gender equality, green architecture, and ecological design.
The main objective of the team is to integrate sustainable construction concepts into the educational process and contribute to environmental sustainability through scientific research and international cooperation. The team has also set specific goals, including promoting sustainability on campus, ensuring gender equality among academic staff, increasing the number of scientific publications, expanding access to clean water and sustainable energy, creating a green campus, and fostering a healthy environment for the university community.
In addition, starting from 2024, a “Sustainability Course” has been established at the university for students and staff, and it is being conducted on a regular basis. Within the framework of this course, participants are provided with both theoretical and practical knowledge on environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, waste management, climate change, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through seminars and training sessions, participants’ environmental awareness and practical skills are further strengthened.
